AI and the Frog Police Officer

January 22, 2026

The Princess and the Frog is a 2009 Disney movie set in New Orleans—one of only two Disney princess movies set in the United States (the other is Pocahontas).  The movie is a twist on the original from Grimm’s Fairy Tales, “The Frog Prince,” where [spoiler alert] the main character, Tiana, turns into a frog.

Artificial Intelligence is being integrated into everything these days, and law enforcement is deploying tools to improve officer productivity just like everyone else.

AXON (AXON $601.39 (▼1.45%) Axon Enterprise Inc | Google Finance) makes an AI tool called Draft One, which transcribes and writes reports about the footage captured by body cameras worn by police officers.  One officer says that Draft One saves him 6-8 hours per week.

One of the pitfalls for AI is that it doesn’t always understand context.  It can be like that guy who overhears part of your conversation and leaps to all kinds of unsubstantiated conclusions.  Usually, such interactions are funny once everyone is in on the misunderstanding.

In a story from Utah, AI software misinterprets audio, claims officer turned into a frog, the AI misunderstood the context of a video playing the in the background and asserted that the Utah police officer shape-shifted into a frog.

Don't blame AXON or Draft One--this is the state-of-the-art of AI today. Just like any employee or machine doing important work, AI tools should be supervised and managed.  While wonderful in many ways, AI is fallible, as this example proves.
